I note on the forum that several people have referred to updates to vlc that have occured in the last few days. I just updated my system each of the last few days and updates to vlc have not shown up. I suspect that is because I had added raspian untested to my source repositories earlier back in December as per the following posts:
VLC testing at:
https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view ... t=libdav1d
and Chromium 78 available for testing at:
https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view ... g#p1578129
As noted in the latter post this change to the untested repositories downloaded to my system testing updates to vlc, chromium 78, changes to ffmpeg ,and the av1 decoder libdav1d3. The changes brought welcome performace enhancements including the proper decoding by vlc and mpv of vp9 codec video which before the update were rendered with artifacts by these two media players. I noticed no problems from leaving the untested repository in my sources. However since then I have not noticed any updates to these programs. Today I just reverted back to the standard raspbian repository and did an update. Still no updates have shown up for any of the aforementioned programs. I presume this is because any updates to these programs had already occured to my system while I was in the untested repository. Pro and cons of staying in the untested repo.?
