Tutorial Setting up a Raspberry Pi as an access point don't work anymore

Thu Oct 12, 2017 6:20 am

Hello,

I spent lot's of hours in setting up an wlan accesspoint with raspberrypi and rasbian strech noobs 2.4.4. I followed this tut:

https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... s-point.md

I read that this tut is at leased outdated since rasbian strech. I don't try it with jessy but I think it will also not work due to /etc/network/interfaces because this file is almost empty.

The problem is, that no accesspoint is visible.

Is there a new tut available?

Does anybody know for which version this tut works?

I also follow this tut:

https://elinux.org/RPI-Wireless-Hotspot

By using this I get an accesspoint but I don't get an internet connection.

Thanks so far.

The official tutorial was fine for Jessie. I tried it.
I do not use Stretch so I can't tell. User SurferTim seems adamant some updates are required to that tutorial, and he forked a new version of the documentation on GitHub

The documentation has a Github Issue open here: https://github.com/raspberrypi/documentation/issues/686

Maybe an "I am blocked on this" update there would flag it up to the maintainers?

The proposed update ("Pull Request") is here: https://github.com/raspberrypi/documentation/pull/735

it has not been approved by Raspberry Pi Foundation for release as official documentation.
