Raspbian lite+PIXEL minimal,¿how to install missing tools?

Wed Jun 14, 2017 1:45 pm

Hi!,

On my Raspberry pi 2 i had Raspbian lite + KODI, updated and upgraded to last version, then installed minimal PIXEL with following commands:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get install -y rpi-chromium-mods
sudo apt-get install -y python-sense-emu python3-sense-emu
sudo apt-get install -y python-sense-emu-doc realvnc-vnc-viewer
sudo apt-get install -y realvnc-vnc-server

sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends xserver-xorg
sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends xinit
sudo apt-get install raspberrypi-ui-mods
sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends raspberrypi-ui-mods lxterminal gvfs

Now i have PIXEL minimal and it works very well to connect remotely from my smartphone or tablet via VNC.

I detected that i have not Raspberry Pi configuration (start -> Preferences -> Raspberry Pi Configuration tool) on GUI and other several tools are missing. I think it is related to minimal PIXEL install i have done.

How could i install missing tools? Which apt-get do i have to execute?

Clean install is not an option because i have very much shells, python scripts and other tools that i can't delete.

I did not found anything about it searching several hour on internet.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you very much!

Installed and working perfect this tool.

Is there any web to see which packages include complete or standard PIXEL installation?

Then i could check and test other packages with apt-get.

Or, could i install one gui package manager on my installation?

Thank you!

Thanks ShiftPlusOne!

One last question about my new actual Raspbian installation.

I have installed now special version of Chromium of this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=63&t=176402&hilit=WidevineCDM

It includes WidevineCDM plugin to see Netflix, Amazon prime video and others. Working ok and checked that caching of video is done on directory:

Code: Select all

/home/pi/.cache/chromium/Default/Cache/
And changed location of all pi user cache, adding the following line to /etc/fstab file:

Code: Select all

tmpfs /home/pi/.cache tmpfs noatime,nodev,nosuid,size=100M 0 0
All is working fine now.

Is it ok? Is there another way to not write to sd card video cache continuosly? Do i have to execute other commands before converting this directory to ramdisk?

Thanks!

Don't know if I would recommend that change, so I can't comment.

Return to “Raspbian”
