Is it ok to add, ugrade SD card on RP2/3 then run it on RPi4

Hi

here is my question :
Is it ok to prepare an SD card like adding software, ugrading SD card on RP2/3 then run it on RPi4, or the other way round ?

I have 2 SD card prepared on a RPI3, then installed on a Pi 4 that crashed. Some other doesn't seem to crash despite having been prepare the same way. But as the crash happen after a while, the last one might crash sooner or later ?

I wonder if I do something wrong, or if my SD card are not reliable, or if doing like I did isn't a good practice ?

As long as you use the latest Raspbian Buster, you should be able to swap the card from any Raspberry Pi to any other Raspberry Pi and it will work. There are a few additional programs that will run on a Pi 2,3 or 4, but not a 1 or 0.
