All models are still being manufactured, but they are produced in batches of each Model at the Sony Factory, but Amazon and maybe eBay usually have plenty of stock if RS/Farnel do not......ondrej1024 wrote:OK, thanks. I wonder if these models are still produced or if productions has been discontinued in favour of the new models.
We do sometimes agree James. The A+ is a vastly superior beast to the A. As is the B+ over the B but there's a lot of legacy with the B......jamesh wrote:There is little need for the A now, the A+ is so much better for the things the A range is aimed at. Lower power, smaller. I'm not sure if A will continue to be made. B's will until demand drops too far.
RS are still listing it as backorder on their website but with no lead time specified. It seems that even old stock is becoming seriously thin on the ground. Theres a handful on offer from third party sellers on amazon uk but a third party listing on amazon is no gaurantee the stock actually exists. I came across someone on IRC who tried to order the last model A listed by a third party seller on amazon USA and ended up with an old model B.pluggy wrote:I'd suspect the model A is a dead duck except for old stock floating about out there. It was bad to get hold of at the best of times.
I've noticed that about the foundation, what they say and the situation on the ground are often two different things......plugwash wrote: P.S. despite assurances from the foundation it seems that the model B has now dissappeard completely off farnell's UK site and is still listed as discontinued on newark's site.
I'm off to check that out!Model B+ is currently < £21.99 on amazon delivered...
According to http://onecall.farnell.com/raspberry-pi ... CMP=HP_RPi (for some reason CPC show a lot more information on stock status on the onecall site than on their own site) theres 18 left and it's "Available until stock is exhausted".mikerr wrote:Model A is still stocked and available in the camera bundle from CPC:

Do you mean 20.48? that is the main price on your link though there is another vendor at 20.84.simplesi wrote:The price is now down to £20.84 !!!!
to getting the "if its too cheap then maybe something is amiss" feeling !!!!
Yes - typo errorDo you mean 20.48? that is the main price on your link though there is another vendor at 20.84.
Mine wasn't from them - it was from an outfit called berlin photoThe above is sourced by The Pi Hut, so shouldn't be a problem barring normal random errors.
they had a price of 20.66 yesterday afternoon (about 2pm-ish)simplesi wrote: Mine wasn't from them - it was from an outfit called berlin photo
for most of yesterday, after I saw the 21.99 price on HUKD, the price was bouncing around as different vendors got in at 20p cheaper every hour or so it seemed. At that price it is pretty much a matter of pennies difference over the cost of an A+.Which I accepted that somehow -someone got some cheap stock and was basically just selling it off to get rid of it
... but 20.48 is less than the 20% off that they mentioned on twitter so I think something is not right here!
Only the £21.99 B+ price is amazon itself - and therefore higher quantitiesmarked wrote: for most of yesterday, after I saw the 21.99 price on HUKD, the price was bouncing around as different vendors got in at 20p cheaper every hour or so it seemed. Model A (a+) is rarely reduced - CPC/farnell is still the cheapest for the A+ at £16.84marked wrote: At that price it is pretty much a matter of pennies difference over the cost of an A+.
