alternatives to amule

Any ideas about a light emule/amule client. Something similar to rtorrent maybe? or no-gui, http access?

I have installed the amule client in the debian image. The CPU is about 100% for the process according to ps -ef. Extremely low speeds, less than a 1KB. And a very low number of sources per file founded.

Downloading the same file in a ten years old windows/emule environment can reach more than 200 KB with floods of sources. I know, of course the are differences between both platforms, but I did not expect bigger ones. This is to say, there is no problem with the downloaded file itself. The net is configured OK too, nat and other stuff work great.

I think, it may be, because of the client itself, getting so much resources drawing things, instead of only downloading. That is why I am looking for an alternative.

After updating the firmware/kernel, this weekend I had given a try to mldonkey. Below 5% cpu usage, but still too very low download rates.

I think I have to play much more with the options.

sudo apt-get install amule-daemon

This package contains a daemonized version of aMule, amuled, that does
not need a graphic environment to run, and can run in the background as
well. It is normally used to be run in a machine 24/7, since the
application continues to run if the X11 session closes.

Included in the package is a webserver that provides an interface to
control the daemon. Remote connections are supported, and the daemon
can be configured to start the webserver automatically at startup. It
is also possible to control amuled via amulecmd, from the amule-utils
package, and amulegui, available in the amule-utils-gui package.

I've got the same problem with amule : 100% CPU in a few seconds from booting.
And the system freezes.

I don't know if a problem with amule daemon or with kernel's network drivers , but I cannot use amule + pi

Answering myself, I have been running mldonkey-server with the http gui for more than a mounth continuously. CPU usage between 10-20% and very high download speed. The raspbian version is the one from feb 2013.
