Pi is on its way
. I ordered on the 20 June from RS and received an e-mail last night stating it would be delivered today. Tracking information shows it is on the van for delivery so it better be waiting for me when I get home from work.

Re: Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied
I was going to carry on waiting patiently without grumbling, but I was annoyed to see some people who ordered late have already received theirs, while I ordered in June (#844xx) from RS and have still not heard a peep from DHL; it has been 9 weeks now.
I was also alarmed to see that shipments might not happen if an accesory is out of stock - is that true? I ordered it with the clear case; will I be informed if I have to wait for more cases to be manufactured?
I'm in South Africa - are the fast deliveries in Europe only? If I order another one from RS now, will it arrive before the 1st order?

Re: Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied
Lucky you! I ordered 21 June from RS, ref 844**, and I still haven't heard anything from DHL. It is 9 weeks now - that's how long they said I should wait, but now I see everyone passing me in the queue.JTrevorJ wrote:The gods were listening. This morning I got an e-mail from RS with a brief but adequate apology for the lack feedback and the news that my order would be shipped this coming Monday. Yipee!JTrevorJ wrote:My order was placed with RS on 2nd June. "Order reference number is: 93482". I can't get any reply from RaspberryPi@rswww.com when I try to progress the order.
Anybody got a lower ref.no.?
To be fair to to RS, I was given an expected 10 weeks delivery on the 22nd of June and that's more or less what I got.

Re: Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied
Indeed. They make us wait 11 weeks, which is fine by me since I knew this when I paid. But then they ignore our questions. I've sent 4 mails (the first one a month ago) and none of them have been answered. That's no way to treat customers.drq883 wrote:Paul,
I am 7 weeks into my 12 week wait. My complaint with RS is not the delivery wait, I agreed to that when I ordered it. My complaint is the fact that they don't answer any email I've sent to them using an email listed on their receipt. If they print a "contact us" with an email address on any correspondence, they should have the decency to reply. Even if it is a "automatic" reply.

Re: Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied
Today I received one e-mail from RS. According to them, my RPi "should be dispatched by the end of September". It's sad to know that some users ordered this after me and they already have it...DaveSemm wrote:I was going to carry on waiting patiently without grumbling, but I was annoyed to see some people who ordered late have already received theirs, while I ordered in June (#844xx) from RS and have still not heard a peep from DHL; it has been 9 weeks now.

I think that the speed of deliveries don't depend on the country, but on the speed of manufacturing. The delivery is the fastest process on the RS orders. What takes longer is the dispatch...
Re: Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied
I am in the exactly the same (if somewhat worse?) boat. 8159x, clear case, registered interest on the very first day with RS at a quarter past six in the morning.DaveSemm wrote:I was going to carry on waiting patiently without grumbling, but I was annoyed to see some people who ordered late have already received theirs, while I ordered in June (#844xx) from RS and have still not heard a peep from DHL; it has been 9 weeks now.

This forum isn't the place to moan. This is simply statement of fact for statistical purposes being for the benefit of those similarly perplexed by the lead times. (That said: Three emails to RS later and no word back, watching all and sundry play with their devices for months now, and I'm in the UK. And now Maplin is going to be selling these, starting in a week? I mean ... wow.)

That is fair comment and I agree that it is something RS should address. It isn't on to just ignore emails from customers.
Cheers

Haha, yes, well the reply was indeed fairly generic. Still, it was a reply to my last mail, not my 3 previous mails (which contained the same questions) and they apologized for the delay. No idea why it took so long though...simplesi wrote:From RS?? - really???Finally got a reply,

Re: Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied
I'm just curious why there are such great differences between rs and farnell.
I ordered and payed at rs on 29th of June, estimated shipping 11 weeks later.
A friend of mine ordered at farnell on the 1st of August and already got his pi (!!!!11)
I understand that they probably do not have the exact same shipping delays, but this is just ridiculous and I'd like an explanation why it is like this. But as many others here I got no reply when I tried to contact them.

Re: Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied
Well
1. RS could have a lot more orders than Farnell
and/or
2. RS might not be ordering in in the same quantities as Farnell
Its a combination of the 2 points that's causing the problems and the lack of any public information that's giving them a bad rep.

Simon, I agree with you on everything except for your #2 possibility. RS and Farnell are the ones producing the boards, not the foundation. So if anything, there's something wrong with RS's production rate.simplesi wrote:Well

Re: Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied
It's 9 weeks today since I ordered and my invoice says shipping within 9 weeks.
I haven't even had a reply to my email from RS Components. Spoke to them on Twitter but they just fobbed me off.
I'm pretty annoyed they can't even be bothered to reply to people let alone fulfil their orders.
Might just cancel and get one from Maplin now.

Hi,
I placed an order and received an order confirmation on Jun 26 quoting me 10 weeks for shipping. While I realize it's not 10 weeks yet, a coworker placed an order three weeks after mine and just received a shipping confirmation. Could I please get an update on my order?

Everybody got a 10 digit order number, I registered at the first half hour and my order number was 10100073xx, but the number shown in my confirmation email was 73xx.Uncle Nelli wrote:I ordered on 04 Aug from RS and was given an order ref : 1010175xxx

Just remove the first 4 digits and you're good.(Where are people getting 5- or 6-digit refs from - mine is 10-digits!!!)
Mine is also 10 digits and it is 168xxx and I ordered on 20th July so yours isn't much higher.
