My Pi arrived today! Yeah!!!

Ordered on 14th June, order number 750XX, arrived on 25th July (standard delivery --> no notification of shipment)

... must now do some nerd-stuff!

Order 788XX (20 June) shipped today by DHL (request to send by ordinary airmail completely ignored).

Looks like the backlogs are falling faster than expected: according to the order confirmation despatch was expected within 9 weeks, this was more like 5...

RS Components.
I'm planning to set up some services like print-server, TFTP+DHCP-server for PXE boot, gateway between internet and local network (for SSH, VNC, WOL) and other stuff. And keeping the GPIO in mind, the list is endless... But there is an other section in this forum for discussing that.

RS Components... That's comforting... I ordered my RPi on July 12 with RS Components. I hope to have it in my hands before the estimated date of 12 weeks.

Having expressed interest on the 29th Feb and placed the order (#21xxx) on 19th May, I finally received my RasPi today. I sent quite a few emails to RS, two of which elicited a "we will look into it" response with no further news. I was starting to lose all hope but sent yet another email this week and was surprised to get a rapid reply saying that my Pi would be despatched. This was followed by DHL's despatch notification and less than 24 hours later I collected the parcel from the local DHL depot. So my advice to those whose Pi is well overdue is to keep chipping away by email until RS honour their commitment.

If you have ordered with RS/Allied you get your order reference number and lead time in the 'order confirmation' email.

I ordered with Element 14. So where can i see the current status ?

I would guess that you can't get a current status with them either. Things may have changed now that they have worked through the backlog.

You'll get a better response from one of the Farnell/Element14 threads rather than this one.

No, it means they received your order that day, not that they sent it.. check your order confirmation; it shows the estimated time to dispatch.

Is the fact the case being out of stock I ordered along with my Pi likely to delay my order further?

That's what they told me.
If an item in the order is out of stock, the entire shipment will be delayed until the item in question is available.

For some people it seems like it, I was just talking to someone who ordered back in May and still nothing, I think it depends which part of the country you're in / how many orders your closest depot has to get through etc

If in the very unlikely circumstance we do not have any cases in stock when your delivery time comes, your order will be stalled until they are in stock and sent in its entirety. However we expect to have all the accessories you've ordered in stock when your dispatch date arrives.

I wonder if this is due to people ordering cases with their Pis which won't be in stock until next month so they are skipping orders and shipping those that can be sent complete.

I wonder if this is due to people ordering cases with their Pis which won't be in stock until next month so they are skipping orders and shipping those that can be sent complete.

That would make sense, if the case was ordered with the Pi as one order I expect they would try to deliver it as one order, if you ordered the case separately then they could send the Pi out first
