Portable screen for portable raspberry pi?

Sun Aug 17, 2014 2:49 pm

Hi,

Im trying to build a raspberry pi laptop, and i have a question about my screen im planning on ordering from amazon: http://www.amazon.de/Touch-Screen-Monit ... spberry+pi

Is there any way i can make it portable? For example connecting it to a portable power supply such as this http://www.amazon.de/6500MA-8500MA-1500 ... um+battery

Also would my raspberry pi run from the usb port of that battery?

Thanks,
laci

Hello,
I am trying to build a Raspberry Pi tablet too, and I have done a lot of research.

I was going to buy the touchscreen you mentioned, until I watched the youtube video on how to set it up...

You need to type some console commands in order to get the touchscreen calibrated, but the video is so low quality that you can't see what is typed. Also, the video has no audio. Looks a little seedy to me.

I am probably going to buy my touchscreen from Chalkboard Electronics:

This touchscreen only needs 5v (the same as the Raspberry Pi), and your touchscreen takes 12v.

Here is an article about a guy who made a Raspberry Pi tablet:

He bought his touchscreen from Chalkboard Electronics.

But if you still want to buy the screen you mentioned, you should be able to get it for less strait from their website:

Although the price might be higher for you in Germany.
