Using Orcad to design a board for Pi

Sun Apr 13, 2014 9:08 pm

On schematic, two parts designated as U1A and U1B but they are from the same component and share the same footprint. How do I make sure to let Orcad know it's the same and 1 component instead of 2.

Hi,

In various chips you have multiple equal functionalities packed together (eg. 4 NAND gates, 6 inverters, 2 op-amps etc.). This is the case on your schematics. There is no need to pay special attention to this, because they can be swapped (and indeed, the CAD programs can automatically swap them in order to route shorter traces).

So, don't worry about this (as long as the components library is from trustworthy source ;-) ).

Best wishes, Ivan Zilic.
