Google "Osbourne Effect".
And some folks need to stop being fanboys and see the forest behind the trees.

(One of the best lines I've seen on this board lately)

They don't tell me much but I only know of one thing in the works and it is not a new completely new device. So you are safe to buy. No upgrades going on anytime soon.

So heart broken, expecting the Raspberry PI Model C with;
4K 240hz display
64GB memory
SD Card 1TB
USB 3.0
Quad 4Ghz CPU
Quad 2Ghz GPU
10K Ethernet
200ma power
For $45.00

I'd want more than a 10K ethernet, seeing as the Pi already has a 100,000K ethernet ;)

By which time, of course, that specification will position the hardware at roughly the place the existing hardware is right now.

Me, I adopt a simple approach. If the Pi seems too slow, I just add another one. It's the add-on cost (various SD cards, prototyping boards, electronic components, hubs and so forth) that drive up the cost. I have other machines for desktop type work and kernel building, so I am probably not representative, though.

In my day: 10BASE-T 100BASE-T 1000BASE-T for 10Mb/s, 100 Mb/s, 1000Mb/s
10K or 10,000BASE-T would be 10,000Mb/s or the same as having 10 1000Mb/s pipes tied together!
10K is now known as 10GBASE-T or 10 Gbit/s

And as an added tidbit: 40K or 40 Gbit/s or 40GBASE-T is on the drawing boards for CAT 8.1/2 cable.
