FFmpeg?

Fri Feb 28, 2014 9:06 pm

I have recently been encoding quite a lot of mp4 videos ('cuz my mp4 player only plays XVid) and I was wondering if I could run FFmpeg on the raspberry Pi, Would it be SO slow that it would take a few years for the first 10 seconds? Because if it does work, then I guess I'll be spending $35 tommorrow.

There is no GPU hardware assisted video encoding with ffmpeg so it will take ages to encode anything.
ffmpeg on the PI is really only good for container converting like FLV to MP4 providing the codec data remains unchanged.
