Raspberry Pi Package Compatibility

This is a post to list all packages that have run successfully on the Raspberry Pi.
INFO TO INCLUDE
  • 1. Name of Package (e.g. Software Center)
    2. Distro (Debian, Fedora, ArchLinux etc.)
    3. Command line Argument (e.g. "apt-get install software-center")
DO NOT post comments in line with the main post but reply to the original post on the package you want to comment.

Might be good to include the version as well, as some packages are available in for example squeeze but not in wheezy.

Sorry -

1. Chromium
2. Afaik port to Wheezy still not completed/successful so Debian Squeeze only at present
3. sudo apt-get install chromium-browser

I think this list would work much better on the Wiki than on the forum. If left only on the forum it'll just get lost in amongst all the other hundreds of posts... :|

good idea. Personally I enjoy downloading software and trying it out but I do think people who are used to more directed environments might be more inclined to persevere with the RPI and Linux in general if they could find recommendations and generally have a more positive user experience. It's got to be good for both the Pi and computing in general.
