What is recommened media for system 24/7

I have Raspberry 24/7 working since August. I have lost 3 SD cards and 1 USB pen drive due to 24/7 working.

Generally speaking SD cards are burned from about 3-4 weeks, and USB pen drive about 8 weeks. What you recommend to use as root media? SD, USB pen drive, SSD disk, HDD, other? HDD and SSD are too big, for my needs, I use as much as 4GB for entire files system.

I got a USB to Sata cable (does other formats) - was about £10, came from Ebuyer.

But try the latest firmware which has an SD card fix - that may help - and also, unless its not possible, you can reduce the amount of SD card accesses by turning off logging and using RAM disks for temporary files. That can really help too.

if you are burning SD cards that fast you must be doing a lot of writing to the disk -
your SSD will not last much better
what are you using it for?

I did firmware update, not so long time ago. Now i have:

I need logging, this is development stage. Hmmm i did not know that have so huge impact. I will try to reduce logging to minimum.

Can you tell more about using RAM disk? What type of files are thinking abour?

The SSD disk has "better driver logic" and longer cel livings time. I use my RPI for LAMP + Wordpress + Cacti.

What kind of SD card you have?
Now i boot from SD card, and have root files system on USB pendrive.

Aha....USB pendrive did not burn in 100%, it is still readable, but unable to boot.
Found few files broken, like inittab file.

A variety of SD cards
"good names" mostly but not all
if you logging then that may be causing issues
but swapping to rootfs on HD will be fine

There is a Beta release which has the USB/SD Card fixes, which I am running AOK, I started with a fresh install of Raspbian Wheezy "2013-09-25-wheezy-raspbian.zip" then:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo reboot

sudo rpi-update
sudo reboot

Now:

/opt/vc/bin/vcgencmd version

But any body can tell we what kind of USB 2 SATA2 interface to buy? Is it need driver for kernel? How to install?
