I think RS, Farnell and ThePiHut own more than me. I stopped counting at about 15 and must surely have >30 by now. Actually I'm scared to count them and not sure if I could track them all down anyway. :lol:

4:
- Pi Zero - Fireplace video display
- Pi 2 B - Audip player (mpd)
- Pi 2 B - Because it was on sale at Amazon with a clear case
- Pi 3 B - Because it is the new hotness!

Now... Ask me about my microSD collection. :lol: :roll:

1...2...3...many.

Notice the polling distribution. Moderate number in the 1 to 5 range. Very few people in the 6 to 9 range. Then a bunch at 10+. Badly designed poll.

They're probably hiding in dark corners, breeding and planning to take over the world!

Let's see...
2 * B rev 1
1 * B rev 2 256MB
3 * B rev 2 512MB
1 * A (deceased, or rather: demolished by myself :roll: )
1 * B+
3 * A+ (of which one free, because of the 'bent pins problem)
2 * 2B
2 * Zero
1 * 3B
So that's 15 working and one dead

B - bought in Oct 2012
B - bought in Jun 2013
B - given to me to try to fix someone's code bug
B - given to me to try to fix a code bug
B - given to me to try to fix a code bug
A+ - given to me to write a review for the original MagPi magazine
2B - bought in Feb 2015
B+ - bought in Mar 2015 (because the 2B was too powerful for the task the B+ now runs)
Zero - given to me by BMS Doug
3B - bought Feb 2016 (because I just had to have the latest & greatest)

So that's 10 that are running 24/7. But only five that I've paid for (although I did promise BMS Doug that I'd give a significant donation to charity when he sent me a freebie zero - that donation was given to Crisis @ Christmas).

At the moment:

1 - Pi 1B 256MB used for tests/standby
5 - Pi 1B 512MB 4 on a Docker/Swarm cluster, 1 as RADIUS
4 - Pi 2B Docker/Swarm cluster
2 - Pi 3B desktops/media centers for me and my son
2 - Pi Zero for freezer control/automation

I will upgrade my older cluster to Pi 3B later this year and use the older Pis on other automation projects. I'd like to use Zeros, but it's still so hard to buy it.

5 at the moment. A 3B on the way, just ordered from Pimoroni last week. 2 - 2B's, I A+ and 1 Zero. I may have voted twice by accident? I clicked 4, then remembered the 3B is in the mail on the way and clicked 5. Normally you wouldn't get a second vote so I'm not sure if it just updated my vote or not? Sorry?

I actually own one Pi B+; because, I am waiting to be able to buy two Zero's and as I go forward I want to buy two 2B, too. I plan to dedicate assigments to Raspberry Pis. And also looking forward Raspberry 4 to do my daily work on that. But that's life, people must wait in their queue, no problem. Fortunatelly, header connector compatible Zero, B+, 2B so what I develop now I can be use later on the proper hardware. From software point of view, I will see the difference.

Well here's the code I threw together the other day, it basically keeps running the terminal command HCITOOL and parses the output, and logs the time, bluetooth MAC address and approximate period of time the device was 'seen' to a text file called "btlist.txt". I can't remember if HCITOOL is working by default in Jessie though. There is plenty of info elsewhere on the forum on how to set up bluetooth. By the way this is run in Python 2.7

Code: Select all

import time
import subprocess
import os
import commands

while True:
        now=time.strftime("%H:%M:%S")
        a=commands.getoutput('sudo hcitool scan')
        if a!="Scanning ...":
                foundtime=time.time()
                scanresult=a.replace("Scanning ...","   ")
                a=scanresult.replace("\n","")
                found_device=1
                while found_device==1:
                        timescan=commands.getoutput('sudo hcitool scan')
                        if timescan=="Scanning ...":
                                found_device=0
                losttime=time.time()
                seentime=str(int(losttime-foundtime))
                f=open("btlist.txt","a")
                f.write(now+"  "+a+"  "+seentime+" seconds")
                f.write("\n")
                f.close()
        time.sleep(1)

While the context was different, the American humor writer Patrick McManus has a theorem to the effect that, after 3, one's spouse will not take much notice of additions to the collection.

I'm currently impatiently waiting on broad availability of the Pi Zero to cross into "many" territory.

2x original Pi 1B 256MB ordered at launch and received in June
1x Pi 1B Rev2 512MB
1 is unemployed at the moment, 1 is used for dev work for my home automation, 1 is actualy productive :D being used as router to connect my garage (furnace computer and photovoltaics logger) to my house net via wlan and also controlling my auxiliary electric heater for my hot water buffer for when I'm away for longer, feeding is with solar electric power, and if it gets too cold with mains power. The furnace is a billet wood one.

OK. saved that as bluescan.py
ran it with sudo python /home/pi/Bluescan/bluescan.py

Seems not to have created btlist.txt, does it only create the file if it finds something?

As of next week, I'll own 4 Pi's. I have 2 original model B's, and I could only order one Pi 3 at a time, so I got one of those this week (Pi week, yay!), and the second one should be in my hands next week. Why? Been reading about Pi clusters, and I'd like to use my 4 node (starting as) a workstation computer. Just got a dog bone stack case (the guys who make this expandable case rock it; I mean they rock it HARD! simply gorgeous kit, and no, I'm not associated with them). Also, I've had a couple of 120mm fans laying around, so if the two Pi's start getting a bit too warm, it should be fine. So yeah, gonna run a stack of Pi's. Gonna be fun. :mrgreen: :mrgreen:
