Can we please have tapatalk enabled? That's the feature I've been wanting most with the move to phpbb.

I'm not getting this white hatred. Looks fine to me. But then, I read books, which are black on white, so perhaps I am biased.

Seems like with the new forum, unless you use multiple browser tabs, you can't see the thread you're replying to when composing your reply

Scroll down the Reply page - the thread is below the "Options"/"Upload attachment" tabbed area.AndrewS wrote:Seems like with the new forum, unless you use multiple browser tabs, you can't see the thread you're replying to when composing your reply

Rockin! Cheers, Eben. And, of course, congratulations on a successful migration.

Books are not printed on bright white paper for exactly this reason.jamesh wrote:I'm not getting this white hatred. Looks fine to me. But then, I read books, which are black on white, so perhaps I am biased.
Re: The new forums are here!
At least to me there seems to be no link back to the topic list from the topic view, which is really annoying.

Oh yeah - a tiny scrolling view that I hadn't noticedmilhouse wrote:Scroll down the Reply page - the thread is below the "Options"/"Upload attachment" tabbed area.AndrewS wrote:Seems like with the new forum, unless you use multiple browser tabs, you can't see the thread you're replying to when composing your reply

There's an e.g. "Return to General discussion" button at the bottom of the page. But I think it'd be useful to have a duplicate of that button at the top of the page too!Toad King wrote:At least to me there seems to be no link back to the topic list from the topic view, which is really annoying.

There is also this for Firefox users, and Chrome users can use the Stylish extension.obarthelemy wrote:Get with the sophisticated users and use Opera
Obviously not as easy as Opera, but it will get the job done.
The only change I'm going to be making is making the the poster info column fixed-width (gets too big in widescreen).

+1 from me. I tend to read forums during my free time at work on my phone... or down the pub. Tapatalk helps, though I do admit those popups for people who don't use it are deeply irritating.sporez wrote:Can we please have tapatalk enabled? Re: The new forums are here!
One bug - now, with the old forums gone, there's no place to signin into WordPress to comment on the blog on the 1st page using your WordPress account and not having to fight with the malfunctioning captcha.
Please add a small Login to WordPress box on the left side of the main page !
Thanks.

Do like the new forum theme!
Re: The new forums are here!
Great work on the migration.
Theme is excellent and you get used to it after a while.
Tapatalk support would be great, Just sign up and copy the folder to the forum root.
The 6kb avatar limit is hugely restrictive though. I needed to use GIF
50kb would be a more reasonable limit.

Liking the new forums, good work guys! =)
Re: The new forums are here!
Generally like the new forums. I especially like the clean look of the theme. Too much over-design reduces clarity. One small gripe is that when I get to bottom of thread I seem to have to go back to the top of it to find "Unread Posts" button.
Can we either have that at bottom of posts or a quick button to go to top of page.
Thanks for all tour work.

As mentioned above, Firefox users can change the format as much as they like using Stylish and their own CSS.
Here's a very quick 1 minute hack to get to 100% screen width, and a Raspberry-fool-pink themed background. Obviously a little more thought would be needed for a comprehensive skin change, but it should give you the idea:

Re: The new forums are here!
Back to browse and another minute or two spent, url underlined, only affects forum, signatures differentiated, user information at the right. Set up for my 1024 width screen with yet another wish that CSS percentages were a whole lot smarter than they are:
Code: Select all
@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);
@-moz-document url-prefix("http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3") {
html, body, td, div, li { background: #F7D2E1 !important; font-size: 15px !important;}
.odd { background: #D2F7E8 !important; padding-bottom: 0 !important;}
.even { background: #D5D2F7 !important; padding-bottom: 0 !important;}
.row-fluid:after {display: none !important}
.container {width: 98% !important; margin-left: 2% !important; }
dl {margin-bottom: 0 !important;}
.span9 {display:block !important; width: 80% !important; float: right; margin-right:0 !important;}
.span3 {width: 18% !important; display:block !important; float: left; padding-left: 10px; margin-left: 0 !important;}
a {text-decoration: underline !important;}
.signature {background: #F9E0EA !important; color: grey !important;}
}

Re: The new forums are here!
For me it's a shame that images don't display correctly and it seems to be quite tricky to include an image in a new post now.

In what way?

*edit: I see now - the way they look "squashed". Just use Stylish to override the poor forum resize. Add this to the definition above:
Code: Select all
img {width: auto !important; }
Re: The new forums are here!
Another vote her for prosilver - brings a huge improvement to usability.
One small change that I'd like to see (maybe it's not easily possible, but let me suggest it) would be to move the 'jump to' list box from bottom right to top right somewhere. That way I wouldn't have to scroll right down each forum EVERY time when I'd like to, well, jump to another forum.
