OpenElec Instal Problems

I appreciate this is supposed to be easy but I have been unable to instal OpenElec.

RaspBMC is easy using dd but following OpenElec instructions I keep getting various errors.

Does the SD card need to be formatted or partitioned specifically?

The SDCard should be FAT32, but you did not state what issues....
