Raspberry Pi as Wireless Access Point?

I have a USB Wi-Fi adapter.

Would I be able to connect my Raspberry Pi up to my network via ethernet and use this Wi-Fi adapter to transmit the internet connection to other devices?

Does anybody know of some software compatible with Pi that can do this?

easy way, openelec had hotspot supported by default.

You may not need the hostapd changes depending on what dongle you use, but everything else here is relevant for what you need:
