NOOBS Torrent problem?

Sun Sep 29, 2013 3:34 am

I just tried to get NOOBS via the torrent link and got an error message:
Requested download is not authorized for use with this tracker.
Not sure what's going on, because it appears to be downloading anyway.

The tracker is downloads.raspberrypi.org:6969 and I'm using Transmission 2.82 (14160) on OS X 10.6.8

We're aware of the issue and will hopefully have it fixed by end of day on Monday.

Did the torrent still download successfully?

I downloaded a file which is 1,201,347,979 bytes and successfully unzips, so I'm going to say Yes.

Excellent. The torrents should now be fixed too.

Let me know if you have any further issues.

I also have this not authorized issue.

Code: Select all

btdownloadheadless http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/NOOBS_latest.torrent
saving: NOOBS_v1_3.zip (1145.7 M)
percent done: 0.0
time left: connecting to peers
download to: /tmp/t/NOOBS_v1_3.zip
download rate: 0.00 K/s
upload rate: 0.00 K/s
download total: 0.0 M
upload total: 0.0 M

ERROR: rejected by tracker - Requested download is not authorized for use with this tracker.

For all other torrents I get, ERROR: bad data from tracker -

And, or, on vuze, take very long time to download start.
For test propose, download of some debian image works fine. Is not problem with btdownload or my connection.

I'm not the OP, but I still have this problem downloading NOOBS 1.3 using Transmission on Ubuntu 12.04 (Wubi)
Running a Model B (256MB RAM) with Raspbian (in NOOBS 1.3) and a Model B (512MB RAM) with OpenELEC + CEC (No NOOBS, as it breaks CEC)

We thought that we had fixed it but obviously it's still an issue - looking into it now.

Okay, I've restarted the torrent tracker. Has that fixed this issue?

We can't replicate this on our end unfortunately.

Unfortunately not - I don't know if this will make any difference, but I'm currently in South-west Greater London, and have around 1Mbps of speed according to speedtest.net (but Chrome only tells me that I get around 100KB/s when I'm downloading anything (I'm currently downloading NOOBS the old-fashioned way, which is probably killing my internet for everyone else)

I've just tested on my 60Mb/s cable internet connection using Transmission 2.51, and I get the same error too.
I tried all the torrents listed on the downloads page, and they all work fine (including NOOBS_lite) with the exception of NOOBS_v1_3.zip which displays the error "Requested download is not authorized for use with this tracker." - I'm not a regular torrent user though so I have no idea what that means ;) The file does still download completely though. And I also checked the sha1sums of all the downloaded files, and they all match the values displayed on http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads

Hi,
I'm still with error to download from torrents, NOOBS_v1_3 have this error:
ERROR: rejected by tracker - Requested download is not authorized for use with this tracker
And others:
ERROR: bad data from tracker -

Using btdownload, the official torrent client.

If client is uTorrent, Vuze or other, after some long time/erros its use DHT to find and download torrent content. If some others have the files. On this mean time, direct download is more quick.

I am using bit torrent client Transmission.

I was successful with Raspbian image through torrent. Supper fast.

I was unsuccessful downloading NOOBS through Torrent. 2 hours to go through direct download :(

Cheers

This should hopefully now be fixed (for good this time).

Please let me know if the issue reappears.

I'm seeing a similar issue. When I started the torrent in transmission I got the error 'Tracker gave an error: Tracker gave HTTP response 503 (service unavailable)'. Shortly afterwards the download magically started though. So far it's been going OK, but it hasn't finished yet.

Tracker returned an error: Tracker gave HTTP response code 503 (Service Unavailable)

The tracker has decided not to play, it doesn't prevent the download but clients are not finding errors because nothing is wrong.

Same issues here, stuck at "Connecting to peers"

The regular download is going really slow, at 300kb/s.

Using Transmission 2.94 (d8e60ee44f) I am able to join the torrent to download NOOBS_v3_1_1.zip and 2019-06-20-raspbian-buster-full.zip however there is an error returned:

Tracker returned error: Requested download is not authorized for use with this tracker.

this is on MacOS that I am running the tracker.
I had no issues on the 2019-04-08 releases.

I am no longer getting the error, and saw a different thread that shows someone seemed to change something to fix it.
