NES pi

Mon Sep 09, 2013 5:01 pm

I'm new to this and I just want to ask a simple question. I'm making a pi in a NES. I want to emulate nes, SNES, n64, GameCube, and possibly sega genesis.

Now here's my question... THEORETICALLY, if I had controller ports directly from NES, SNES, n64, GameCube, and sega consoles, could I wire then to function properly to a raspberry pi?

I know it'd make more sense to use a USB controller for all systems, but u thought it'd be neat to be able to use all original controllers.

A SNES controller already has beed wired to the GPIO pins from someone here in the forums.
NES should be possible aswell.
N64 is not working up to now, but some really great dudes are working on this already.

Does that mean they are possible simultaneously? Or one at a time?

Link to the SNES Controller

In theory you should be able to take any controller and create a map that will let you use said controller to control the pi. But read through the link provided and see how he did it, it's a lot of work to do this from scratch.

As far as emulation goes, as NES, SNES, and Genesis are all a go on the pi. While there is some impressive work being accomplished on the n64 I will forever be a skeptic on that actually working reliably. I can't even find a n64 emulator that works reliably on my 5 core laptop. Definitely no to the gamecube.
Dear forum: Play nice ;-)
