So have they offered the 4k or whatever amount they have to more than that amount of people or have they matched a pi to person and if say ones not ordered within a day or two then it moves to someone else in the queue, just wondering if anyone knows how this is being handled?

It would be a bit crap to come back from work find you have an email but the allocation has allready gone, even though you registered early on the 29/02.

Looking at this thread, the problem appears to be that they have little or no experience in flogging web programmers that mess up big style.

Not sure about RS but from the general slowness of farnell's website (and this goes back to when the Pi was nothing but a dream) I would generally agree with that.

Please don't get me started on the slowness of Farnell's website. Or the random and non-working functionality of Rapid Electronic's site. I have to use both several times a day and it makes me weep.

Rapid won't let me save my password in my browser and they time you out after 15 minutes which means I have to log in to their site about 5 times a day.

I believe such things are managed by the order prevention dept.

"Ordered", ok, "expressed interest" with RS Components early hours of the 29th Feb. Got my invite to enter the RS Pi Shop this morning. How much hesitation do YOU think there was?   Delivery is expected to be within 7 days, so maybe next Friday????

Yay, i got to order mine aswell today. 221X

I looked up on the "View source" thingy on internet explorer and saw the code to the activation-code button was disabled when it didn't work.

Can also confirm that the price to Sweden was the same as for everyone else here.

Now it's only the last waiting left...

With ref to my previous post.

Just got an email from RS asking me to try again and.........it worked!

Now according to my order I should get my Pi within 7 days!

I'm going to send a quick email back and thank the "RS Calibration" department (scary sounding place) for fixing my self-destructing code.

Considering I ordered a Pi on the 29/2 at 2.44 from Farnell and they "expect to deliver" week commencing 21/5 this seems interesting.

(Farnell's "expect to deliver" roughly translates to "when all the planets align along the vernal equinoxe and chickens gain the ability to fly by gaining their helicopterlicenses")

My nipples itch with excitement...

Sorry… but that is just too much information!

I am pleased to hear that yours is on its way to you anyway… I just wish that mine was also.

Such a pity.  I registered within a few minutes on the 29th, received the email asking me to "update my details as I would be able to order soon" early April, but no RS email yet, and nothing in spam.  Oh well.  I have one from Farnell so don't mind the wait.  Seems a bit hit-and-miss though

You have to be persistent. I find that shouting at the computer and threatening to give it a damned good thrashing helps. It certainly helps me.

Ordered mine from RS this morning around 11:30 and no problems with website.

Order number 23xx

I'm assuming we're all in that 4,000 batch (from the original 10k) ??

that is a very good method indeed. i usually threaten mine with chopping it up with an axe (and for strange reasons it usually solves the problem)

Well I am disappointed to learn that I didn't register my interest with RS until the 9th March. At least I was able to place an order with Farnell on the 1st.

Went onto the RS online chat to see how far down the queue I was, but he couldn't tell me anything. As I,m a week or so after most of you lot, it's gonna be a long wait. My Farnell order will appear by then.

I've had an invitation to order and have done so!

I'm a bit surprised as on the 29/03, I was faffing about on the RS site trying to find an order page when the link lead only to a 'register your interest' page.

Eventually, aware that the seconds were ticking by, I filled in the form. When I read how many were trying to apply, I lowered my expectations even though I'd registered by 6.15.

Good news for me. I was planning to use my palm charger, but it's 5.3v at 1.0A - is that too much? I'll look around the forums.

@texy

Unfortunately nothing there - been checking it every few hours for days

I think I've read more spam in the last week than actual mail
