I'd honestly given up hope but I'm one of the lucky 4000, I read my invitation yesterday at 11:53am folllowed by a large WOO-HOO and ordered mine by 11:54.

I think I could have been one of the 700 if only I hadn't wasted so long on the Farnell site trying to get something other than a blank page...after poo-pooing the RS 'expression of interest' (as that's not what I wanted) for a valuable minute or so.

I recieved my invitation at 9.44 a.m, but didn't manage to order until I got home from work at 2.00 a.m. the following morning. I guess the e-mails probably started at about 9.30.

Intersting comment on the front page announcement from Mike@RS -

"latest batch of 4,000 takes us to registrations recorded up to approximately 6.05am GMT on 29th Feb (which illustrates just how phenomenal the demand was that morning)."

So if you didn"t get to register from before that time/date, your not getting one of the "4000".

Rgds,

Texy

Interesting - I got one of the Friday invitations, I didn't think I'd expressed an interest within the first 5 minutes!  Just goes to show how time perception deteriorates under stress....

I'm now just awaiting the promised notification of dispatch.  I expect that to be Tues/Wed, given the Bank Holiday.

Also interesting if RS are sending out worldwide, which I think they are. I received email at 9:44am yesterday and am in UK.

I ordered from the RS, USA subsidiary Allied Electronics, on launch day.  Apart from 1 email from them on March 29th I have had no other communication from them.

As a comparison I have a confirmed shipment from export.farnell, and email from newark.com confirming that my Pi will be on its way soon.

I wasn't necessarily trying to be greedy ordering 3 but because it was difficult to tell whether your order had been placed successfully, I tried to cover all bases.  At least I will be able to give my kids 1 each if they all come through.

Generally no, although Mike from RS provided an email address when answering questions on the RS post on the main page this past weekend - apparenly you can email them if you have any issues with your order.

I don't think you'd be alone if you emailed him "just out of curiosity"

You will have to have a sudden attack of the 'screaming ab-dabs' or something, and demand to be sent home immediately... or better still something mildly contagious!

Mine is also out for delivery now. I'm playing the "Where oh where in the University is it going to turn up" game if the label is what parcelforce said and not what my confirmation from RS said. Admittedly RS send a lot of packages to my department almost daily so hopefully that works out.

Yup. Details suddenly updated to show that Pi was received in depot 7 hours ago and is now out for delivery. Can I afford to go to the loo or should i just hold it in?

Update - Update - Update

Just as I finished previous sentence, the front door bell went. It was Mr. Parcel Force with a package! It does have to be signed for. I'm off now to play with my new shiny shiny and go to the loo.

Lucky GOG!

We will expect a full update later today... on the Raspberry Pi of course, and not whether he managed to make it to the loo in time, or not!

Got an email (yesterday) from Parcelforce containing a tracking number - woohoo!

Still no status change on their website yet and it's a 24-hour delivery window - let's see what happens - I expect my Pi to be delivered today!

I originally ordered from Farnell on the 29/2 at 11:44 - only recently got an email saying "expected" delivery is last week of May.

I registered "interest" at RS website a couple of days after completing my Farnell order.

Last week I get an "Invitation to Order" email from RS using their self-destructing "special" code - they fixed this for me.

Now expecting a delivery very soon!

Well, given he's a GrumpyOLDGit, that might be a moot point.....

Mine is on the van too, loaded 07:50, so given the distance between the depot and my address, it could be mid-afternoon.

The waiting, oh THE WAITING!!!!

s'pose I could do an unboxing video....

Just thought I would check in to confirm that my Pi is up and running. I started this with Midori but the processor maxes out and the keystroke delay is unacceptable. So I've installed Chromium and it is much much better. no delay at all.

I was very nervous plugging everything together as it looks so small and flimsy.

My £2 HDMI/DVI cable from Amazon looks to have been a good deal.

Also my £1.25 dual PS2 to USB converter that allows me to use legacy keyboard and mouse.

I did buy the micro USB power supply offered by RS so, apart from the Pi itself and a bundle of SDHC cards, my hardware outlay has been just over £10.

I'm off now to see if I can attach to the NAS and play some music. A bit of Prog would be nice!

Woohoo!

My Pi from RS arrived yesterday (dispatched on the 8/5 delivered at 15:00 9/5).

Then realised I have no hdmi/dvi/composite capable screens and did a headlerless install - install debian image to 2gb sd card and manually enabled ssh on boot.

It booted first time and was in awe of the "little flashing lights of dreams" springing to life.

Now the next step.....my plans for world domination and sharks with frickin' laser beams on their heads!

Hi all,

just to add another successful delivery today.

I came home from work this evening to find an RS branged jiffy bag sitting next to the front door!  Glad no one nicked it!

I did not receive an 'it has been dispated' email, and delivery was successfully made to France.

Unfortunately, I have left my SD card at work today, so will not be able to test it until then.

Registered interest at 8:04 (ish)

Ordered last friday with order number 177x

Maybe we should set up a table with:

Registered interest date

Order invite date

Delivery date

for all of us?  Assuming everyone can remember when they registered...
