How to get "@" and "$" characters ?

Sat Aug 17, 2013 6:10 am

Hi,

Perhaps the Raspbian image ships with a European/UK keyboard/keymap set by default, s.t. "SHIFT-2" prints the -"- character (i.e. double-quotes, not the "@" symbol I was expecting), and SHIFT-3 prints the UK-Pound-currency symbol (not the US-keyboard "#" that I was expecting).

What is the way to change keymap / keyboard layout to "US" ??

thanks,
Jay

Re run the config utility and go to the internationalization menu and do the keyboard setup. If your exact keyboard is not listed then choose one of the generic keyboards. After that you will be asked to set the country and some other options.

sudo raspi-config
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated RPiOS Buster w/ Desktop OS.
