I didn't bother diving into the scrum for the first week or so, but I've had the "end of June" email. So there's optimism available for anyone who wants it

Seems both E14 & RS planned on making a nice neat pile of their respective orders, but someone opened the door and a gale blew them all round the office. So they're rushing round, looking under desks and behind filing cabinets, trying to find them all, and sending out emails as they do.

Just so long as, when I do get mine, you lot have sorted out all the problems, so I can just switch it on and it works

Got my email today saying I"ll gey my raspi end of June. GREAT. Gives me time to figure out which idea to start on first.

On a plus side for me is the fact that by this time things like drivers and sound may already be ironed out so I can get on with the Pi-POD (or whatever) with one less reason to pull out the little hair I have

Yes me too another month before I receive it Im starting to lose interest.

Its certainely Retro in some ways getting back to the basics It certainley does in relation to delivery time's Spent ages waiting for MK 14 computers,ZX80,sZX81,s Spectrum,s Ql's.

One would have though in this day an age Any snags like wrong ports long delivery time,s Certification would have been a thing of the past.

I have a few friend's there were going to order one That have now lost interest Even if they did order now It may take months for them to get a unit.

I posted that I have not received a confirmation in another post, and they deleted my post and another persons, then locked the thread. Pretty rude.

I ordered on 3/3/12, but have not received an email yet. Hopefully in the next couple of days.

I ordered on 29/02/2012 at 08:10, order #164544xx and I also have received no email. I also double checked my spam/junk folders and contact details with Farnell.

But I live in Canada, which everyone knows is a 3rd world country. I use a 300/300 baud modem, with 2 cans and a wet string for a phone. Shipping is by horse and cart... so the Raspi will be quite an upgrade when it finally arrives

In the meantime, in celebration of Beeb @ 30 I've decided to try and repair my old BBC Micro, which hasn't been powered on for 23 years!!

It will take a while for that Mountie to fight his way through the snow with that Pi in his saddle bag.

Just got an email from Farnell:

Dear customer,

Can't wait... will have to though.

Still I can get everything ready for the off. That should keep me busy.

I got 28/05 too and I'm in Perth. I ordered before some of the people getting 7/05 dates so it's probably going by country?

I'm not saying this is what is happening, or that its fair if it is but:

if the existing Pis are physically in the UK then it makes sense to ship them to the UK or EU. By the time said Pis have got to Australia and shipped out the delivery date might not be much different to receiving one from a later batch that was sent direct to the Aus distributors.

I think you are probably right here.

It is cheaper/more efficient to send a batch of n machines to a distribution point (eg Australia) than it is to send them out individually. If I were doing it I would probably allocate batches of 50/100 to each country such that the batches are distributed by order time of the first person in the batch. For a distribution point with a small number of orders it could be the 50th person in that batch (for that distribution point) ordered much later than someone waiting in a more demanding countries.
