Hi! I've installed the boblight addon from the repository, but immediately after activation, the lights change the color that I have put in the background. From that moment in the movies do not work leds, when before all was fine. How can you set it to keep things running as before and simply use the option to turn off the lights when screensaver?

You may be able to disable boblight plugin for movies, I can't remember, but I found it best to just avoid the plugin and use boblight-constant if you want a static colour.

Actually, it does not, as long as you set the priority in boboptions.txt lower than the one set in the add-on. Look at the boblightd client.cpp code - it's all there.

The advantage of the plugin over boblight-constant is that the plugin is aware of the XBMC state. I, for example, don't want to have my tv backlit when I am away, so the plugin turns off the backlight when the XBMC screensaver comes up after a period of inactivity.

From the output of top I don't think you need to overclock as your CPU isn't being maxed out.
If you are running Raspbmc then you are already overclocked. If you want to OC further, then you can use the Raspbmc settings within XBMC.

As for what is causing the delay, I don't know. Can you post your boblight.conf

Thanks, I didn't know that. Although I do wonder if this is adding extra cycles to the CPU if its also running, I shall have to do some tests.

So everybody can use this plugin on 2 weeks.

What modification are you planing? So that the modifications to omxplayer are not needed anymore or that the modifications work better together with the plugin?

Pibob with 50 leds works well, just need to make it 100 leds so then i can make the frame for the leds.

This is how i use the Boblight configuration tool for calculating my leds.
Channels Top: 32
Channels Left: 20
Channels Right: 20
Channels Sub: 32

Boblight conf. Tool calculates channels 100 (see in the right corner) when i do this setup for the leds?)

Output: /dev/spidev0.0
Channel: 300
Prefix: 41 64 61 00 63 36
Postfix: A5
Interval: 20000
Rate: 48000

Is this good ???
Channel is 100 leds x 3(rgb)= 300
Prefix, seems to be also a calculation. 25 leds or 50 leds or 100 leds have standard Prexfix
Postfix, really dont know if its good. It was already A5
Interval and Rate is also info from another forum.
Any ideas if this wil work fine?

This function is realy slow on 50 or more leds so i have replaced the ToString converting to the Boost library.
Now it have better cpu usage.

What do i need to change?
I tried to change to 001 to 050 for name on all the lights but i get nothing when playing a movie.

My lights worked when I used the original repo from the Pibob-page.

Ok, so I changed all the names to 001, 002, 003, 004 up to my 050 but the leds does not work. I get a fast white flash from all the leds every time I stop playback. I used the source from the how-to first that worked. Do I have to clean it out somehow before compiling and installing this modified version?

Just a guess:
Have you "killed" the running boblightd before you "make install". Maybe the binary is still the old one and the lib is new?
Just try:

Code: Select all

top

to get the PID of the running boblightd. Then

Code: Select all

sudo kill [PID]

and do a fresh

Code: Select all

sudo make install

.
Maybe you get some information when you then start your boblightd manually:

sudo boblightd -f /etc/boblight.conf

I found my problem. I changed 00 to xx for all the lights (I know 00 should work).
When doing that I found a garbage character in one of the names.
Removed that and now it works!

Followed the PiBob tutorial substituting boblightd with Speedy1985's modified version. I'm now able to stream full bitrate Blu-ray backups over NFS without buffering. Everything is MUCH peppier now. A big thank you to all involved!
