Sun Jul 28, 2013 9:33 pm

hi all, ive recently started using my raspberry pi again and have since forgotten my password for tightvnc ive searched high and low on the internet for instructions on how to set a new one but i just cant find anything other than installing a new tightvnc, does anyone have the command line which will enable me to reset it or is it going to have to be a fresh install ?

I would start by changing the subject line to one that describes your problem, Just using "I need help" makes 99% or readers just skip your message, so start over, with a better subject line, or edit the current subject line.

I'm pretty sure the answer to this question is just: run vncpasswd

Or just find a file somewhere in your home dir named "passwd" and remove it.

P.S. I noticed (while researching this question) that x11vnc doesn't have the same sort of password setup as the other ones (the "normal" ones) do. It seems to take the password on the command line (which is, of course, a Bad Idea).
And some folks need to stop being fanboys and see the forest behind the trees.

(One of the best lines I've seen on this board lately)
