Re: Im posting this from a Raspberry Pi!

Fri Aug 26, 2011 8:12 pm

Just a quick update to make you all jealous. I've just been doing some filming of a Quake demo, and thought I'd take the opportunity to visit the forums using one of the alpha boards. Everything's running beautifully, although we still have a little optimisation to do in terms of getting applications boot time down and some other tweaks.

I'm back off home now for beer and pizza, and hope to get the video up for you over the weekend. I wish you could feel how *cool* the CPU is - it's lower than body temperature after having thrashed its way through a Quake demo several times running, and makes me think all kinds of happy thoughts about power consumption.

Back home now - I'd like to point to that I am not an ungrammatical idiot, but that Mingle doesn't recognise apostrophes in headings. Boo.

Actually beer should be served cold, but not frozen. About 5 degrees should be fine.

Don't argue with a Belgian about beer! We don't have a government, but we do know a lot about beer :)

Well, strictly speaking, it's well below room temperature, and considerably below body temperature - it's just not FREEEZING cold like American beer. And this is a good thing, because it means that you can actually taste what you're drinking.

Real beer (ale) is best served at cellar temperature.

15 seconds in a microwave will fix the american beer coldness problem it just doesn't solve the fact that it's american beer

could be worse. i could be drinking foster's or castlemaine and no amount of microwaving would fix that unless it boils the mug dry

yes, I can remember asking for that to be done in an American bar..

... a supposedly "English" pub serving ice cold draft bitter...

... tasted quite good afterwards (and of nothing when cold :o )

It's just our way to call everything beer. I'm not exactly a connoisseur. It was actually lager i was (and still am) drinking :)

I admit to drinking Castlemaine in the 80s.
My excuse was it was free because they sponsored the Test Match I was working on.
