Mouse Double-Click Interval

Tue Jul 02, 2013 1:38 pm

I thought I posted this yesterday, but I can't see it, so am trying again.

The maximum double click interval seems to be set too short, as often (but not always) double-clicks are not recognised. How do I extend the permitted interval?

TIA,

EMJB

I had a quick google using "lxde double click speed" and I found there there is a hidden file named ".gtkrc-2.0" in your home directory. So if it does not exist, create it. If it does exit, read it before you proceed -- it may advise you to use ".gtkrc-2.0.mine" instead.
Type these commands from the prompt, or inside LXTerminal.

Code: Select all

sudo nano ~/.gtkrc-2.0
Add the following line:

Code: Select all

gtk-double-click-time=1000
Press Ctrl - X, y and enter to save and quit the editor. Logout of the desktop and startx again for it to take effect.
Try that and report back?

@ Davespice: Many thanks - quick check seems to indicate it is much improved - only time will tell if it is perfect. Incidentally, the file you mention didn't exist, so I had to create it.

I had tried googling, but I think my mistakes were not including "Linux" instead of "lxde" and perhaps using words like "rate" and "interval" instead of "speed". Will try to remember to use "lxde" in similar circumstances in future!

Thanks again,

EMJB

Thanks a lot. Two years later and the pi 2 still has a problem.
Openbox Configuration Manage does not change mouse click speed.
but this resolved the problem.
