Nah, bitcoin is petty when it comes to tax evasion. Wake up and smell the coffee, or perhaps google it? ;)

Thanks for the condescending insult ;)

Why would I want to use Bitcoin for anything - what does it offer me that a conventional currency doesn't? All I can think of is anonyminty useful for evading tax, buying/selling illegal goods, scamming the unwary and also high-risk speculative investment.

Can anyone sell it to me?

If it catches on in the future I guess it could be a more stable international alternative to sovereign currencies, but that is not the case at the moment.

I guess it is a free form of money transfer with no overheads or middleman taking a cut, but I don't transfer money that much :(

I wish it well, but I'm not tempted. As if anyone cares what I think anyway - people are using it!

I think this thread is going to get heated and unpleasant, and since its pretty unrelated to Pi land, I'm closing it.

Sorry for those people who want a bitcoin discussion, but I feel there are better places for it. The original pron issue is nothing the Foundation can do anything about - it's two levels of abstractions away from the site here - and if you try hard enough there almost anything two levels away from here.
