pacman errors re: sudo

I just set up my new RPi with a fresh Arch Linux install from the RPi website (downloaded 6/20/13), and found that the system can't find sudo.
Assuming that it must be missing from the image I downloaded, I did [pacman -S sudo], and got a 404. pacman identified a package for install, but failed attempting to retrieve it.
I don't know pacman very well, but I verified that there is a sudo package hosted on archlinuxarm.org, (there is,) but I'm wondering if pacman keeps a local package list which might be out of date with the server at mirror.archlinuxarm.org? If so, how can I fix this?
Any advice from pacman pros would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
