I got the email, it said "Week of May 29th". (Monday May 28, is a holiday in the United States.)
It also said "Please Note: The delivery date reflected in your order history on http://www.newark.com
will not update until stock is received in our warehouses. The delivery date shown in this email is the most accurate delivery date we have for your order."
Naturally, this did nothing to curb my compulsive checking of newark.com to watch my "expected ship date". A couple of days ago, this changed to "09 July 2012", after its extended stay at 15 August 2012.
I suspect that the change in expected ship date means that they have more faith that the factory(ies) are capable of volume production, not that stock for my order was "received in [their] warehouses".
I have got to stop checking the order status page. It has flipped between 09 July and 16 August a couple times since the last post on May 3rd. It is showing 16 August now.
I suspect Newark's site won't have ship dates that aren't hopelessly pessimistic until volume production shipments actually start getting to their warehouses on a regular basis.
