SD adapter for using two sd cards?

Fri Jun 07, 2013 8:18 am

Hello,

I would like to use RISC OS and Linux on my Raspberry Pi. Since I have a case which is difficult to open in order to change the SD card I am wondering whether there is any kind of adapter that plugs into the SD card slot of the Pi and contains two SD cards which you can switch? The usual multi-boot software solutions does not support RISC OS.

thank you very much!

You could create your own SD card slot extender on some veroboard and having this at the end of it.

Yes, but AFAIK if you switch the operating system all data from the previous one is deleted. So e.g. if you switch between RISC OS and XBCM you will loose all installed plug-ins etc. Or do I see that wrong?

That may be the case (I've not tried NOOBS yet - need to free up a card) but "data" could (and perhaps, should) be stored on a separate USB stick accessible by any of the O.S.'s . I guess local copies of plugins could too (they'd only have to be re-installed, not re-downloaded).

Still running Raspbian Jessie or Stretch on some older Pi's (an A, B1, 2xB2, B+, P2B, 3xP0, P0W, 2xP3A+, P3B+, P3B, B+, and a A+) but Buster on the P4B's. See: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/raspiidx.htm
