NEW IDEA FOR FORUM: RANKS

Tue Jun 04, 2013 10:09 am

I was wondering; on the RPI forum (here), could each account have a rank? Like on the minecraft forums (minecraftforum.net), you get ranks such as Gold Miner, Wood Cutter, ETC, and, I was wondering if we could have soething like that here? :D
I'm happy to help.

I hate the idea of user ranking here or pretty much anywhere else.
What's the point? This is not a game or competition to be the most cool forum member.
It's a discussion forum. Open to debates from anyone, anywhere, beginner or experienced, guru or newbie.
Under a ranking system some great projects and ideas from those of low rank, perhaps just because they only just joined, may get overlooked.

I think it would be nice to have ranks for topics.

I don't like that idea.

I don't think that ranking users based on the numbers of posts that they have submitted is necessary, as I have seen forum users with one post far outdistance the substance of users with thousands of posts.

However, if users would like other forum users to know how awesome they are they could surely use the signature area for that.

100% agree with Heater, please no ranking here - IMO it's a childish, pointless turn-off that'll only serve to lower the content quality of this forum - No thank you!
