Re: TV program for the PI

Will the foundation be doing any sort of TV program a bit like what the BBC did for the Beeb micro.

I was thinking  you could broadcast it on Information TV.

I know there is stuff on YouTube. But for schools its probably easier to tune into a TV program or record it for playback later.

And then to tie in with the program you could have programming kits so a PI bundled with SD card with all relevant software etc.and maybe a gert board.

TV programs could start with a Hello world type scenario, and build on that to produce a game and look at controlling a light or two. And or maybe invite the odd forum member or two to submit work for the shows.

Maybe Chris Searle could make a comeback.

Or who would you get to present it. Apart from someone from the foundation.

Here are my top picks

Kate Russell from BBC Click and she used to be on .tv with a computer show Chips with everything. (Also have a signed photo from those early .tv days)

Suzie Perry (from the Gadget Show)

Or have a competition to find a presenter.

Oh and what would you call the program.

RS and Farnell plan to eventually sell packs i.e. a Raspi + accessories - though I expect they won't have Gertboards.

I think youtube is pretty easy for schools to access - often in the computer labs they have projectors/smart boards that they can display on (at least in the UK - but outside they probably won't receive Information TV anyway) and the issue of airing it globally would exist too.

However having a proper youtube series with a strategy rather than just sets of tutorials would be nice.

Kate Russell is awesome - I wonder if she has ordered a raspi.
