It sounds like a wind-up somehow I very much doubt Liz would use live chat as a form of communication since it's impossible to prove your identity.

Your best bet is to try emailing her - http://www.raspberrypi.org/contact-us

It does indeed sound like a wind up. Liz doesn't handle the takedown stuff anyway.

OP...you might also check your server logs (or have the hosting provider do it for you) to check, and supply to Liz, the IP address the messages originated from.

Liz might be a little upset to find out who is impersonating her.

That video is concerining. So much hate - you can really feel the tension - I think at least one of them has Borderline Personality Disorder - they should try Relate, or be on Jeremy Kyle.

The give away is the simple fact Liz knows the difference between "trademark"and "copyright".

The imposter clearly doesn't. Nothing wrong with using the words "raspberry pi". It is encouraged! They haven't sold 1Million+ units by keeping it quiet :)

Actually, You're wrong there! I've been told by the raspberry pi foundation following this thread that I needed to move my site to a new address! Oh and it really was the foundation that time!

Yes, the pi foundation does go around enforcing their trademark rules, I've been told off too ! I was in the wrong though, so it's only fair. They do need to keep things straight with their name, less it becomes some generic term that no-one actually associates with the raspberry pi foundation, like hoover.

Lord: I've only just seen this thread. Sorry I didn't reply last month.

Yeah: the person that OP spoke to in that chat definitely wasn't anyone from the Foundation, but when OP *did* get in touch with Lorna (who runs our trademark enforcement) to check, it turned out that he was actually in breach of the trademark rules. Lorna pointed them out to him nicely and respectfully. OP - I'd have appreciated it if you'd echoed her confirmation that we didn't approach you in that way.

We've got no idea who approached OP in that chat; it's not anyone from here (as you can probably guess from the language and the underlying arrant stupidity - I was rather embarrassed that ANYBODY would think Eben or I would ever write or behave like that).

Unfortunately, we do have to enforce the trademark rules. We understand that in cases like OP's, the rules aren't being violated with any malice intended at all. But there are bad actors out there: we're currently prosecuting cases in Turkey and the Czech Republic (and we're preparing for a couple more) where people are trying to claim ownership of the trademark so they can make money out of it and sell other devices as Raspberry Pis, or stop other local companies from selling the Pi so they can scoop the market. In any case that arises out of that sort of thing, one of the first things we are called upon to prove is that we police the trademark rules properly: if we are seen to be negligent about enforcing them, that's a big point against us in any court case. I HATE having to spend the Foundation's money on dealing with this stuff; it's not what it's meant to be for.

So that's an explanation of why OP was (eventually) asked to change his URL. We try to be as fair as we can in these cases: we don't ask people to shut down immediately, but ask them to use redirects for a while, so their audience can find the new address, rather that turning stuff off straight away. I'm sorry he feels sore about it. I hope he understands why we had to make the request once he drew our attention to the URL he was using.
