What about this

Elecom USB Cable U2C-JM (A-mini-B type)

Would you be able to power it off your desktop computer?

yes, its a lovely cable.... you could use it for many things, but powering a raspberry pi from your PC will not be one of them.

I strongly suggest in the nicest possible way that you spend some time reading the FAQ and the Wiki pages for the Raspberry Pi.Many of the questions you are currently thinking about and about to ask will all be there...

Not that's 100% relevant, I'm fairly certain the foundation said:

"A Quick Word on Trademarks This software distribution is counted as a “Fedora Remix” in the terminology of the Fedora project because it contains software not found in the Fedora package collection. Please do not refer to the Remix as “Fedora” or use the Fedora infinity logo or wordmark in conjunction with the remix – please refer to it as a “Fedora Remix” and use the secondary mark in accordance with the Fedora Trademark Guidelines. "

And to elaborate on what smartbones said, it won't work because it is MiniUSB not MicroUSB
