Trademark infringement?

Fri May 03, 2013 1:20 pm

Just been made aware of this on #raspberrypi:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Raspberry-Pi- ... 3cd0a23028

Not sure how to contact The Foundation directly, as I suspect this is a clear case of trademark infringement. Not much I can do about it, but worth making people aware that not all that is advertised as Raspberry Pi is real Raspberry Pi.

Ta,

Just advertised wrongly in the title

If you read the main info you'll see:

This auction is for Cubieboard

You could additionally complain to eBay. They should get the listing amended as it's clearly not a Pi.

There is also the possibility that google would accept a web forgery report (not sure what sort of urls they accept).

Interesting posting (the page on eBay). If you read it (as I did), it turns out that, beyond the original title, they always use the phrase "RasPi-like". I think they just left out the world "like" in the top-level title. Whether this was an accident or not, of course we will never know.

But the Good News is that it seems that the Pi has become part of the infrastructure; the phrase "Pi-like" is akin to the phrase "IBM PC compatible". We should be pleased at this news.
And some folks need to stop being fanboys and see the forest behind the trees.

(One of the best lines I've seen on this board lately)

Its a "Raspberry Pi premium" which is probably a reasonable assessment of a Cubieboard. Its a bit cheeky perhaps. Given the market for such a device, just stating its a Cubieboard would do the selling I would think.

Send a PM to Liz, she's as close to the foundation as you'll need. :)

Just report it to eBay. It is clearly an attempt to get the listing in search results.

The description is OK but the title is plain dishonest. When I get to a PC I'll report it myself.

Perhaps not wrong, just different? Are you perhaps using the prosilver skin - the one that has the blue colour theme? The raspite version has a raspberry pi logo at the top left.

I believe the Raspi Trademark Swat Team is on the case.

Is that Swat as in fly swatter, or SWAT as in Special Weapons and Tactics (including The Nuclear Option)?
