Hiawatha 9.1 Debian package for the Pi!

Fri Apr 26, 2013 11:18 pm

Hey, I just wanted to let everyone know that I managed to get a Hiawatha 9.1 Debian Package compiled! :ugeek:
(Hiawatha is an ultra-secure, lightweight, and fast webserver - it's perfect for the Pi. Plus, it's GPL'ed, so all you FOSS nuts (like myself) don't have to feel like you're having your rights violated by using it!)

You can download it from a machine running that very program at:
http://jamestheawesomedude.cu.cc/hiawatha_9.1_armhf.deb

Or, there's a torrent:
(RECOMMENDED incase my Pi ever goes down - also, my 0.5 Mbit uplink isn't exactly the best thing to be running a dedicated server off of...)

(664 Bytes) Downloaded 387 times
{Mirror 1}
{Mirror 2}
{Mirror 3}

..anyway, I posted this because I couldn't find a 9.1 Hiawatha armhf binary anywhere on the Internet.

P.S., I don't deserve full credit, a lot of it goes to Heiko on the Hiawatha forums for his wonderful step-by-step tutorial on compiling Hiawatha for the Pi.

This is odd...

Only one download so far, and that person was running Opera on Windows.. It wasn't the torrent link, either...

It happened at about 6 PM on Saturday, he lives in Illinois (I know which corner of Illinois, but I'm not telling - common decency,) and his ISP is Comcast. (I think he's using DSL, though... Odd, since most people go for Comcast's Cable package...)

(Yes, I'm excited about getting this server working, and, yes, I'm going to stalk the first 10 people to download the file. JK :mrgreen:)

What is it? FTP server?

Nethack server? SQL server?

Hello, my name is Jim and I will be your server?

Inquiring minds...
And some folks need to stop being fanboys and see the forest behind the trees.

(One of the best lines I've seen on this board lately)

Webserver.

However, a REAL inquiring mind would have figured that out:

Note the http: prefix.

An HTTP link to a server "running that very program" instantly knocks FTP and Waiter out of the question...

I should add that the ISP here is comcast broadband......The budget package, LOL.
It's not my house....I'm helping out a sick family member.

I'm still trying to figure out what Hiawatha does.......It's a webserver??? Do you mean an FTP webserver or something else?

IP lookups.
This one is my favorite, it tells you the hostname, very good estimation of physical location, and the ISP. Your hostname was adsl-somethingorother-yourip.something.comcast.net, so I guessed you were using DSL.

Yes, it's a web server. HTTP (and HTTPS, if you get an SSL cert. There's a tutorial on how to make one yourself, if you don't particularly care to shell out $1000's to a CA.)

Not very cool posting peoples IPs and details in a public forum

If you'll notice, the only IP I posted belonged to a script kiddie trying to launch the excessively n00bish Port 6667 attack. The IP of the guy who was just downloading the file like a decent human being was kept confidential.

So yeah, I'm not exactly going to cry myself to sleep just because I posted the IP of someone trying to crash my precious Pi.. (Especially since my IP is available from this very thread, if you think about it...)

I actually didn't even think about the fact that I was posting the IP until after I'd already posted it, at which point I thought "oh, well, he deserves that anyway. No point wasting my time editing out the IP of a Douche Bag.. Hopefully he'll see the IP and hack himself or something."

The submitted link is not working.
You can find Hiawata binaries for Raspbian here :
