no!
there are no POP RAM chips of that size that fit the Broadcom chip, and there probably never will be any.

also no sane company/foundation would ever publicize such a thing, its a recipe for immediate halting of all sales, so its also a silly question to ask. :lol:

but that doesn't invalidate my first answer, which is a verifiable fact!

There is great fear of the "Osbourne Effect". Whether or not this fear is justified for the Pi is...debatable.

For myself...I'd like to a 256MB Rev. 2 board. Not many were made and it's the one version (past the initial 10K) that I don't have.

If the OP *really* needs a 1GB, try looking around. There is at least one board out there that has 1GB of RAM.

There'd be a queue of people ready to swap their rev2 Pi for a 512Mb model should you offer !

512MB Pi's run so much better in X window GUI than 256's

@Jim: all A's are 256

I'm hanging onto my Rev2 256MB 'B', There weren't many made, the 512 came hot on its heels and it has rarity value. (To the extent there are many on here who don't know they exist).

I did just that, offered brand new 512MB Pi for a particular revision of the 256MB Model B, but got no takers. Probably because it got moved into the "Wanted" section where not many people look.

I'd happily swap any of my 256Meggers for a 512Meg with anyone in the UK

My 256'ers are:

'0002' => 'Model B Revision 1.0' (3off)
'0004' => 'Model B Revision 2.0 256MB', (Sony) (2off)

but not the specific revision model adlambert wants 0003 (guess that proves your rarity point ;) )

Only got one 512megger so far.

... but I have a Model B with 16 GB on USB, so why limit yourself to a measly 1 GB?

Please, please, please, let someone who doesn't know me respond, OK, guys? I can't wait for the fun and frivolity to begin! :lol:

i used to have an Osborne 1. it was my first "real" computer that i could actually get work done on....

now that would be a neat project... putting a pi inside an old Osborne case. replace one of the floppies with a usb interfaced CD drive. run the original display off of the composite output.... but i'd hate tearing one of those antiques apart. they were a very nice computer in their day...
