Hi folks,

I tried running Banshee but it fails to launch. Is there a similar app ?

Thanks!

Banshee, Amarok, Exaile, Rhythmbox and similar applications are pretty resource heavy for the Pi.

For a basic music player you might want to try something like the CLI based Open Cubic Player (sudo apt-get install opencubicplayer.)
My mind is like a browser. 27 tabs are open, 9 aren't responding,
lots of pop-ups...and where is that annoying music coming from?

I agree with the previous poster that some of the standard music players are little heavy for the Pi.
I tried out a few different ones and came across Clementine. This is a lighter version of Amarok (i.e. the overall GUI is inspired by the general concepts of Amarok) and actually worked really well.

If you want something in the iTunes style then I think you will find this to be quite usable.

Hello
I've just bought a Raspberry PI
:D
I've tried Openelec, which is nice
I'd like to use something more 'mp3 dedicated' to build my own boombox from Raspberry PI
I 'd like to use Clementine (already tried on Mac Os)

I am afraid to be lost with all the versions available for download on Clementine Website
http://www.clementine-player.org/downloads

Can you help me choosing the version compatible with Raspbian and/or Pidora ?

Do you think Clementine can be installed as an add-on of Openelec ?

many thanks
