Install Error

Tue Apr 02, 2013 12:18 am

Hello, hoping someone can help me here.

When installing a game/app/media (doesn't matter which) the installer runs and says it's successful, when I press a key to continue i get a notification the install was unsuccessful. I've tried from a fresh SD card install and updated to the latest version of the Pi Store but still the same result.

Any ideas?

Hey,

Could you paste the error message that you receive?

Have you expanded the root partition on your SD card? If not, there are directions on running raspi-config here

Thanks for replying,

I have expanded the partition, using an 8gb card. The "program could not be installed" is a notification bubble that pops up from the taskbar after the installer closes out.

Hmm, an odd one!

What have you tried installing?

Could you please navigate to /usr/share/indiecity/pistore/scripts and run the enablelogging.sh script. If you could then try running the Pi Store a couple of times, you should be able to find a log file at /home/USERNAME/indiecity/pistore/General.log

Also under /home/USERNAME/indiecity/pistore there should be a Scripts.log file

If you could post the contents of those or email them to [email protected] then something in there might give me an idea of what's going wrong :)

Alright I'll give that a try and post the results when I'm home from work.

So I fixed my problem, on accident of all things.

After logging in after initial startup I was using the command 'sudo startx' where's I should just use 'startx'.
Installs work great now.

Thanks for trying to assist a Linux noob ;)
