Using a USB Flash instead of an SD card

Fri Mar 29, 2013 7:53 pm

I don't have an SD or microSD card to use for a hard drive. Can I use a USB Flash Drive instead?

The RPi has to boot from a SD card, but you can put the rest of the system on as USB stick.

I have a similar problem. My 4GB SD card is essentially full, but I have many free external hard drives. How would I set the system up to boot from the SD card but have everything else on an external hd?
