Re: Raspberry Pi Fedora Remix Installer - Restore SD Card

Fri Mar 09, 2012 3:49 pm

After using the Raspberry Pi Fedora Remix Installer by Jon Chiappetta @ http://www.raspberrypi.org/

Installation and unpacking works fine, the SD card then displays as a 100Mb device.

My question is how do I re-format and restore the SD card back to its full 4gb capactiy?

In windows 7 disk management I can see the unused 3gb or so left over from the unpacking but cannot format or expand the disk to fill this space

any suggestions?

the partition will be extended on first boot if you put it in the pi to fill all the space

if you want to wipe it I think you can delete the partition from disk management then just format it all

100MB is correct - you can't see the other partitions as they're not standard windows partitions (unless you look in Computer Manager)

I could not get Disk Management to do this. Whilst I could delete the partition it would only format the first partition, and not the whole card.

I did have this on my computer which did the job nicely.

The free home edition at the top of the list is fine.

You can also use it to view the names of the files on the card

SD Formatter, from the SD Association, also does the restore job nice and easily.
