Does anyone know the number that have been pre-ordered? I am curious how big the community is now.

The guardian article said 700 per second.. which is a tad the high side I think (that's 400 million per week!  Call me sceptical, but...)

I think we can safely say the number is somewhere between 1 and that number.

A lot.

What I am curious about is if Farnell and RS will compare first-shipment lists to prevent the one person getting two?

That may have been an advantage from the 'web crash' I would be difficult for anybody to have been in the first 5000 for both companies.

I think that 700/sec was the first day or two.  It has to have slowed down some by now.

And ALL the press articles in the past week have been 100% accurate in their reporting

Anyhow, just 1 hour at that rate would account for 2.5m boards.

I imagine that was hits on the site, which probably includes the "F5" efforts too.  I'm sure the foundation will be trying to get numbers out of them too.

I want to work out how far we have got in RPi:

10k = 856 meters of r-pi

[http://www.raspberrypi.org/forum/off-to ... -2/#p17367]

I think they may have sold several Everest worth by now (~100k).

I know how many times the word raspberry was searched for on RS's website in the first two hours of the launch, and it's a big number...

That obviously doesn't equate to actual pre-orders, but even if a small percentage of them did,  "lots" is something of an understatement !

Cheers,

Rob

It is probably in the 100s of thousands in total. Judging by the statistics of the webservers that morning.

Anything that hits bbc news or slashdot is going to get millions of referrals. Let alone all the broadsheets and other tech blogs.

I've read somewhere (but where?) that there was a demand for 2 millions Raspberry Pi.
