minidlna subtitles (srt) support question.

Fri Mar 15, 2013 2:07 pm

Hello,

I am running raspbian wheezy and have minidlna configured and running.
I have subtitles (srt files) stored in the same folder as movie with name exactly matching movie file name.
When I play a movie in my TV, subtitles are not shown.
My TV model is Sony EX720.
Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Simon Mandy

Hi Simon,

As far I know the Sony EX720 doesn't support subtitle files when playing video's. I've also this type of television and notice this as well playing video's from a DLNA server and subtitles were not viewed on the television. After reading the manual it is clearly indicated that subtitles are not supported in a separated file.
I’ve tried the miniDLNA server on a Raspberry and I have a second Raspberry running XBMC. Even when I play a video on the XBMC via the miniDLNA the subtitle is also not appearing so perhaps the issue is two faulty – issue on the Sony EX720 and miniDLNA
Somebody who knows if the miniDLNA support subtitles?

Thanks
S,
