Not just dates that Merkins do weird!

Spelling eg "gaol".

Pronounciation eg "z" (And a "router" is a wood working tool in Blighty.)

Words eg "sidewalk"

Grammar eg "different than"

Mothering Sunday (was two days ago here)

Summer Time (DST) changeover

Electrickery (different volts and cycles)

Liquid measures eg US gallons versus Imperial gallons

etc

Things are getting worse in this part of the world, phoned Element14 in OZ, from Wellington NZ, to ask on the off-chance if they could give ma an update on eta's.  Was told nothing firm but towards the end of the year...(their website has a lead time of 143 days, but it has sat on this exact number for two weeks now)...although some who ordered early may see theirs in July, although the rep couldn't tell me if I was one of the early orders (placed painstakingly about 3 hours after launch-time).

I guess I better check to make sure the c/card I used will still be valid by then (but at least they haven't charged it yet)

hmm last email I had from Farnell was on the 29th which was my order confirmation, if I havent got a mail from them in the next couple of days i'll give them a prod.

Same here - not a squeak out of them since the 29th, confirming a date of 12th March

ditto. I'll ring tomorrow.

Further info for the UK. Just spoke to a helpful lady at Farnell and she said they had a current ETA of ... July due to production problems. I said I'd managed to get my order in quite early on launch day so she replied that in that case it might be june (yipee).

However, she advised ringing up every few weeks to get a better ETA.

Slightly disappointed, but what can you do?

Wow, its getting worse. Thats practically the new school year. I guess they won't be going into schools until 2013 then.

They'll be obsolete before they achieve their goal at this rate.

As far as I'm aware, the release date for the educational version always was in the 4th quarter this year, well after the start of the school year.

Dear ?????????,

Breakthroughs. Exhilarating, but rarely without hiccups.

A few days ago, the Raspberry Pi Foundation announced a small manufacturing delay. A component in the Pi is being reinstalled. In the grand scheme it's small potatoes - but we know it's frustrating for Farnell element14 fans and customers.

Congratulations - Farnell element14 will deliver your Pi to you around early May.

We're a proud partner of the Pi, and the sense of adventure it's bringing to the tech community. We've all come to feel part of the Foundation's big project to bring computing to all. Online, the response has been superb.

Thanks for your patience and understanding so far. Enjoy your Pi.

Just had another email from Farnell of the generic Breakthoughs, Exhilerating ...... variety.

My precise W/C 30th April date has been moved back to "around mid May".

same email for me, now mid May instead of end of April - I guess everyone is slipped by about half a month because of the manufacturing problem.

they're blaming the snag with the first 10k that were "almost already done" when rpi posted the story.. however really the knock on affect of the snag is (i assume) having to source the right connectors, and the lead times on those.

I am in the US...I ordered with Newark/element14 on Mar. 2

I got a confirmation email the next day saying the expected ship date was on May 15, but when I look at my order on the Newark web site, it says my expected ship date is Apr. 3.

Have not received any further updates....

Still not date for me.  I ordered mine from Allied Electronics (RS Components' US subsidiary) on 2nd March,  but they didn't give me an delivery date. I emailed them over this past weekend politely asking if they had an expected date, but they still haven't replied.  Very frustrating.

Considering everyone is getting an email indicating roughly a 2 week pushback on their ship date, it would seem pretty clear to me that this is a result of the Ethernet jack problem.

The initial shipments were pushed about 2 weeks because of the problem, and assuming they had problems sourcing the additional replacement ethernet jacks, that would explain the 2-3 week pushback ripple down the line.

At this point, I'm more interested in seeing if the people who had ship dates of March 12th or so have new dates and what those are now...

My Newark order is still saying March 30...

I had an initial ship date of 12th March and I haven't been given any revised dates.  I haven't actually received any correspondence from Farnell since the initial order confirmation.

"Farnell element14 will deliver your Pi to you around end of May. "

quoting the recent ethernet jack hiccup

Ok, so yeah, this is the more important one... Either that's gotta mean that yours is on the way, or you're looking at end of March to get it... Let us know once you get more info...(or if it magically arrives at your door!)

And folks, it doesn't help if you post that you got an email with a new date, if you don't also say where you ordered from, your country, and what the ORIGINAL estimated ship date was before the email!

Or, as I suspect, Farnell UK are somehow treating those early orders slightly differently, or sufficiently different to miss them off an email list and are still looking at a much later date. I bet Tass's order total is £31.86 as well - the board cost £26.55 originally - which is different than that currently on offer I believe.

I would love to be proved wrong
