Re: New forum for OT chat

Given we've been talking about furries (which Mac OS Lion thinks I should type as furies, because it's obviously had a classical education), trolls, nail polish, flying saucers and childhood gaming, I thought we needed a new forum. First to post in the new OT forum gets…well, nothing, but you do get to type "first"!

Personally, I was working my brain to figure out OT!

Maybe - Other Topic?

Jumped here using the What haven't you seen since last visit feature.
So not always sure what is the major topic heading for a message stream.

As for furries. Was it / Is it the teddy bear like creatures in a SciFi/Fantasy
series? Not a Star Wars creature, but close in nature. I have not read the series,
just saw the covers from when my brother left them laying around.

Whoops, I'm wrong, answer is just a Google away. Looks to be people dressing as animals. Personally, from the pictures I saw, it is kind of like Spandix work-out wear. Some look great, and some need to rework their image.

Come on, peeps! OT is off-topic!

No wonder people have to Google furries, you guys are meme-untainted!

@emercer - This older Geek had stepped off the Tech Merry Go Around for the last decade, after spending over 25 years in bleeding edge tech. I took those ten years to discover why wonderful tech based start-ups, crashed & burned from a business and investor point of view. So please excuse me if I miss, confuse or have to look up an element of current Pop Culture. Due to the Half-Life nature of Pop Culture, for some I may seem to be down to 12.5% of a newly minted College Student. I'll take the hit, laugh and come up to speed.

We older Geeks like to hang on to things. Look in your Grandma's wardrobe.
I thought a furry was what you got if you left a raspberry in the fruit-bowl for over a week.

We older Geeks
Hey, some of us older geeks are grey-muzzles. Not all furries are fursuiters, some are artists and some just hang around with the other furries. At least this discussion isn't refering to CSI for their idea of what furries are. (The CSI episode in question has about as much resemblence to reality as most CSI episodes: pretty close to none.)

So Blars, is that a "Viking" opera helmet, or part of a furry Bovine outfit?

well well well, (OK I say well too much) I wasn"t actually expecting this, but searching for "rasperry pi furry" on google brought me back here, so YAY!

as I too am a furry, I just wondered if there was or ever will be a furry r-pi mascot?

even if it just means a sticker version for case Modding, that would be super!
