Have you all thought about or decided to drop some Pi on eBay to try to control the price gouging?

Why? If people want to pay over the odds for a device who's actual price has been very well publicised then surely that's up to them. No-one's having the wool pulled over their eyes.

Anyways, there will probably be one or two on ebay for a more reasonable price in a few weeks when the "buy first, read the faq later" mob find out that it doesn't come with Windows or itunes, etc...

Controlling the scalpers on eBay is like playing whack-a-mole, but it is easy for the Foundation to have them taken down.  There's one currently advertising a Pi for 80 quid; claiming that 5 are available with 8 offers. 5?  I'm wondering when he expects to make delivery?

I don't know who is silly enough to even make an offer, but I suppose if you offered something in the region of 31 quid (RS quoted price of £21.64+carriage+VAT), you wouldn't be out of pocket if all the other offerees were sensible!

What AM I saying?

Hopefully it'll soon be taken down.

Edit:  I forgot to add.  The silly bugger is also offering an extended warranty too.  £24 for two years, £36 for 3 years,  At that rate, its cheaper to buy another...

To be fair, I'd offer at the current exchange rate for $35 plus a fiver carriage and VAT.  Then the "vendor" wouldn't be out of pocket and I wouldn't be paying any more than if I'd ordered from the official sources.  Though I wouldn't make even an offer because that just encourages the swine.

Reading the listing is enlightening

Pre Ordered one after first allocation sold out and on reading more details and not been too techy so unsure what to do with it

Why buy one before reading the details?

I was half expecting them to say that they had gotten up at 06:00 on launch day to get one!

I just love the fact that their order delivery is for May and they've said themselves that they have no idea what to do with it!

So the RPi is definately that must have item!

10+3 - something to do with a friday?

Wow! - that means my bid was the highest then! Shame they made her take it down  .  Shame she didn't answer my slightly pointed questions about added value, and warranty either!
