Re: Farnell payment question

Sat Mar 03, 2012 10:53 am

I`ve managed to preorder a model B rasp pi from farnell on the 29th of february. With transport and VAT the total sum is 31.91 GBP. It should arrive on 26.03.2012.

I`ve called my bank and asked them if any money was withdrawn from the credit card; they said that no money was withdrawn but 4.74 GBP were blocked on the card by Farnell.

What does represent those 4.74 GBP blocked and when all the money will be withdrawn from the credit card ?

I also emailed them and got no answer so I asked here thinking that someone could enlighten me

I've heard of this before in relation to hotel reservations. They don't actually take the money as they have not provided a service. However, they have earmarked a deposit so that if you withdraw they can take it.

Yeah they have asked for authorisation to take that amount from your credit card. But they haven"t actually debited it yet.

I'm pretty sure they can't take it if you withdraw though, that wouldn't be allowed by the credit card company (money taken and no goods received).

Thanks for the quick reply, I tought that it was an error because I refreshed the page due to their dead server when I was checking out.

Something similar happened to me too.

Do you have a delivery date for your order? I am asking because I am from Romania too and heard many people saying that they know the shipping date. On my account there is no such thing.
