I think the point is that originally the Pi was going to be sold through the Pi Shop, which does/did do Paypal. Then they shifted sales to existing companies, RS and Farnell, which don't. So no, I don't expect Paypal will be an option. But who knows?

Grumpy is, sadly, right - we'd hoped to offer PayPal when we were planning on using our own shop, but it just wasn't an option with RS or Farnell. I hope we can sort out a way for you to buy using PayPal later in the year.

We're definitely doing our very best. It'll probably be a few months before we can, but we do realise it's something a lot of you want.

Agreed this a bit of an issue as my debit card was not accepted by Farnell.

(Glad about that now as I will be getting a Model A now)

Any chance that if PayPal doesn't work, some sort of international bank draft can be used for those without a credit card and a foreign debit card?

The most recent RS FAQ says they will accept PayPal (last question):

That is on the RS website - they are not the same FAQs as on raspberrypi.org - It might be worth asking RS about it -  It MAY be that they are intending to introduce PayPal for Raspberry Pi customers?

That's how I understand it. That FAQ page was created specifically to answer questions about the Raspi ordering process at RS, so they apparently accept PayPal for Raspi payments.

Now I'm wondering if it's better (from an exchange rate/fees/other charges POV) to pay using my German credit card or using PayPal.. I guess PayPal.

Paypal is also addressed in the latest blog post: http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/826

RS:

PAYMENT:  We will accept payment via PayPal and Credit Cards.

Somehow, I can't pay with PayPal when I try to pre-order one...
Is the PayPal function already active?

Can someone point me to the → direction? :D

There are no official places on the internet where you can pre-order one, only two places, RS & Farnell where you can register your interest.

Yes

RS allow payment by PayPal - which I've done so I know this to be a fact.

Thank you for the reply,

I already got the mail where I can pre-order my Raspberry Pi (+ a free T-shirt)
But when I try to order it, it won't let me select PayPal...

What should I do?

My recollection is that while RS have a PayPal option, Farnell do not.

Borrow a friends credit or debit card, get a debit card of your own, hock your car for a credit card or buy it from RS.

Well, yes, we do NOW that he's posted a picture - if he'd said so in his OP we'd all of told him a different version of 'buy it from RS'
